prayer wiorks

YEY! I found my 1x1 pictures na!!! *bigbigsmile*
Thank you Lord for answering such a petty prayer!
Thank you! :)

Prayer works.

Tutulog nako.
For real.
TTFN!
Ta-ta for now!

on the brink

Why is it that you can't find what you are looking for when you absolutely need them and yet when you're not looking for them you see them everywhere! Waaaaaaaaahhh... I can't find my 1x1 pictures!!! Naiinis nako. I need them at 630am! Grrrrrr......

Owel.... anyway.... na-pack ko na ang bags ko. Yes, bags. Andami kong dala! Haha. I feel like I'm going to camp. Anyway, i'm going to leave most of it in my locker at the hospital naman. Ito na to.... totoo na nga tlga. We're supposed to be at the Surgical Ward at 630am mamaya. Gulatan na lng kung sino groupmates and kung sino On Duty. Wahahaha.....

I'll be in "Surge" for a month. We go on 24 hours 'On Duty', then 8 hours of 'From Duty' the next day, and then another 8 hours 'On Call' the day after next. (Bale, 32hours straight ung OD and FD.) Then balik sa simula na 24hours duty ulit. :) Pabalik-balik na ganun until matapos ang 365 days.

Uy, KC pre-camp starts tomorrow na pala. In case I don't get to visit.... *bighug* to CHARA, MIGS and ANDRO. I'll be praying for you everytime I think of you. I hope you enjoy KC to the hilt and listen to what the Lord will tell you there and you may have the courage to do His will when you leave. *mahigpit na yakap ulit* Also, WAGAN!!!! *bighug* miss na po kita. You're also remembered.

Kelan kaya ako makaka-blog ulit? Bukas kaya? O sa isang bukas pa? In case surgery duty swamps me and the next time I can go online is next month..... gusto ko lng mabati ng

a really good Friday

Death by Crucifixion (from Solis, Legal Medicine, p.451) - When a person is nailed on a cross the weight is supported by the nailed feet. In order to breathe, the person has to raise his body and then throw his weight on his feet. When on the cross, the intercostal muscles are stretched and the chest cage is fixed. The alternative raising and lowering of the body lead to exhaustion, unconsciousness and death from asphyxia. Because of the difficulty of the chest movement, this type of death may be classified as traumatic asphyxia.

And that's what happened to Jesus. It was a painful and slow way of dying, and a shameful one to boot. Yes, he suffered. Yes, he was in pain. And that speaks of how much he loved us. He endured the cross because of man. Because of you. And me. But Jesus wasn't killed on the cross by the Jews and the Romans. He gave up his life there. To fulfill the prophecies. To save us all. It was a voluntary act performed in obedience to the Father. He offered himself in our place. He died. For the Jews and the Romans. For you. And for me. Because He loves. He loves you. And me. And because He gave His life, we live. If. we. believe.

It was not a defeated Jesus who was on the cross that day. And neither did the celebrations occur only on the Sunday following. Jesus was already a victor while his hands still held the nails. The fight was over and Jesus had won before he even reached the tomb! And that makes for a really good Friday.

Happy Easter! Jesus is alive! He lives. Rejoice!

there's a full moon tonight

And suddenly, things didn't look so bad.

I don't have a picture of tonight's full moon here... I'm waiting to see if Deneb has one... *hint, hint*

I love the full moon. And I like the thought that people I love are out there, looking up at the same moon and enjoying it as much as I do. Yeah, I know. It's a song from An American Tale but it fits so perfectly! :) Canada. London. Quezon City. Manila. Los Banos. Negros. Even though we're so far away, we're still close at heart. And that together, on these nights, we are worshipping the God who created the moon and who binds us together in love.

Some IV students were here a while ago and they were singing under my window: "She's waiting. I know she's waiting. I know she waits for me. Under the lover's moon." Hahaha. Nakakatuwa. It's a wonderful night.

Since there's a wonderful out there, these verses fit the mood. :D

i carry your heart with me(i carry it in
my heart)i am never without it(anywhere
i go you go,my dear; and whatever is done
by only me is your doing,my darling)
i fear
no fate(for you are my fate,my sweet)i want
no world(for beautiful you are my world,my true)
and it's you are whatever a moon has always meant
and whatever a sun will always sing is you

here is the deepest secret nobody knows
(here is the root of the root and the bud of the bud
and the sky of the sky of a tree called life;which grows
higher than the soul can hope or mind can hide)
and this is the wonder that's keeping the stars apart

i carry your heart(i carry it in my heart)

- e.e. cummings-

Oh the bliss...

... of staying up late because i want to and not because i have to.
... of waking up in the middle of the day because i've had enough sleep.
... of No lectures in the morning to stay up in, no SGD to read up on, no exam to review for.
... of not having to wear the white skirt and blouse.
... of not being reprimanded or getting 'why-don't-you-know-that?' looks.
... of movie marathons.
... of no reports to hand in.
... of taking my time in the bathroom and everywhere else.
... of alone time.
... of much-needed rest.

Oh such bliss!

last day of 3rd year

Today was the last day of our lives as third year medical students. In two weeks, God-willing, we'll be Clerks at the hospital and we'd be wearing our new white uniforms with the standing collar and white shoes. Unfortunately, we (the girls) will still be in skirts. Grrrr.....

Most of my classmates are now on ships or airplanes and are floating or flying to their hearths and homes to spend time with their families. Others are preparing for their own getaways... some to Bohol, others to Boracay. After one week, they're supposed to come back here so we can take our Comprehensive Exams and be oriented about our hospital duties. That is if we passed all our third year subjects! As it is, we are still walking around with a sharp bolo hanging over our heads because we have no idea how we fared in any of our classes after the Endoc Block.

I, along with some of my classmates who live lightyears away, am going to spend the Holy Week here in Iloilo. Hopefully, i can float off to Bacolod to have my version of a vacation. Or I might just get on a bus and go where the road takes me. After all, I haven't seen most of Panay Island yet. Ano kaya???

I'm sure April 1 will arrive only too soon.

His Grace is sufficient for me.

of stitches and pork legs + others

Yesterday, Friday, March 14, 2008, I made my first stitches on skin. Oh yeah, it was great! It was hard at first because my hands weren't used to moving in those sequences required for stitching skin but the subsequent knots were easier to do. Oh yeah, I also had the chance to stitch muscle, which was a whole lot easier to do than skin! whooohooo!!! *clap, clap* Then we made knots with one and two hands. (They were a lot different from the knots I learned in ECHO to tie up my hammock, I tell you. hehe)

But no, I DIDN'T sew human skin. Rather, we practiced on a PORK LEG. And on GLOVES. Hehe. Syempre noh, first time lang namin magtahi. We incised the skin on the poor pig's leg and stitched it up again. Or we made tears on the gloves and fixed those up as well. We were taught by the surgical Residents from the hospital. Ang saya magtahi ng balat ng baboy! Made me think of going into Surgery.... If only surgery entailed just stitching people up. Haha. Asa pa. Wala namang specialty sa medisina na taga-tahi lang. Sa Fashion world pwede, sa medisina hindi. hihihi. So that's still bye-bye surgery. Boo.

Anyway, since we were 10 groups in the classroom, each group brought their own pork leg. After the exercise, guess where those legs went to? To DB Ledesma! Yummy! My classmates collected the legs and brought them home. I was able to enjoy CRISPY PATA at the Balay Bisaya. We also celebrated Loribee's birthday than night. Whoooohoooo!!!! Ang sarap ng crispy pata! (Of course the stitches were taken out before the poor pig's legs were cooked.)

...

On Monday, we'll have our final exam for Block XX: Ophthalmology and Otolaryngology and Trauma.

And in two weeks.... we'll invade the hospital. Ang I don't think I'm so afraid anymore. Sabi sa Princess Diaries diba: Courage is not the absence of fear. But the realization that something is more important than fear. Hihi.... Pero what makes me less afraid is this: "Cast your cares upon me, you who are weary and heavy laden and I will give you rest." This I was reminded of this morning when I attended the celebration of the first death anniversary of a dear family friend. I am blessed because even though she is no longer with us here on earth, through her, people are still being ministered to. Although I didn't know her much in life, she is still a blessing to me in death. Her legacy will endure. Blessed be the Name of the Lord. I know I'll have the chance to get to know her more in Heaven and I'll be able to thank her there.

Na-miss ko kase...

Yesternight was Ladies and Gents' Night here at IVHome Iloilo. Every February, ivcf fellowships in campuses all over the country hold this event. To affirm their sexuality and to affirm their 'brods and sisses', and to praise God for creating us specially different. Usually, malapit-lapit sa Feb 14 ang binabagsakang date nito and nagde-dress up ang lahat dun sa elbi. I remember one time, na-celebrate pa namin ung debut ni K on that night (Feb 15 un). Title namin that year was 'Celebrate Life, Celebrate Love' at andun kami sa tuktok ng Madecor Bldg... :) waaaah... nakakamiss....

Anyway, yesterday was the night dito sa Home. Kuya Eumir talked about Isaac and Rebecca's love story.. how the Lord showed the servant whom Isaac was to marry. And then kuya shared how you'll know when you're ready to commit to a relationship (pag handa ka na yatang i-sacrifice ang huling singko mo e...) and how to know if the one na ba ung tinitingnan-tingnan mo. Haha... nakakatuwa lang. feeling ko tuloy balik college ako. Madami pa rin akong natutunan ah. Na-affirm ang mga decisions ko in the past and na-affirm ni Lord ang heart ko. (Thanks kuya eums!) Then nagseparate yung boys and girls. Yung mga girls dito masyado atang mahiyain. Wala silang mga tanong, wala silang mga reactions masyado... Ate Mizpah also asked us to write how we can keep ourselves pure. Tapos nun, kainan, then kantahan, then uwian na.

I missed the roses (kahit na on principle ayoko ng roses... gusto ko lng sila kapag galing sa esvees) and the haranas. We used to get roses from the esvee boys. With matching pledges or kung ano man. Or we the ladies would give roses to the esvee boys... kanya-kanyang surpresahan lang yan... And I missed singing 'Guard Your Heart' with Ate KC...

Dahil nasa senti mode ako nun, na-remember ko tuloy tong mga to, when I visited elbi nung feb 11... it made me smile. :D Nakakatuwa sila... nakaka-miss... *yakapnamahigpit*
