kwento-kwento lang

I love sports attire. Yan ang extent ng pagiging sporty ko. Haha. And I also prefer not to compete in anything kase... basta, ayaw ko lang. (O ayan JP ha. tama yung sinabi ko. hmph.)

Balik sa kwento. Lagi akong nagpapagawa ng mga jerseys ng batch namin dito sa med kase magaganda yung mga jersey designs namin at mahilig nga kase ako sa sports attire. Nag-aattend din ako nung mga games sa College dahil magaling din ako mag-moral support sa mga players na classmates. Never akong naglaro sa kahit ano. Kahit chess.

Pero kanina, since 3rd year na kami at hindi na kami makaka-ganito next year pag JI na kmi, first time mapawisan yung jersey ko nang dahil naglaro ako sa isang game! Yahoo! May saysay na ang sports attire ko. hehe. Naglaro kami ng softball. Kalaban namin yung first years. Hehe. Ilang minuto lang naman ako nasa field. Sa third base ako nagbantay. Nakasalo ng bola na hinagis ng teammate ko. Naka-out ako ng isang kalaban! Yey. At least nahawakan ko ung bola. =) Hindi na kase ako umabot mag-bat kase panalo na kami. Hehe. Yey!

Wala lang, natuwa lang ako. =p Pero mas gusto ko pa rin ung laro-laro lang, ayoko ng career ang labanan. Gusto ko din sumali dun sa volleyball at maglalaro din ako sa table tennis. Hehe. Huling hirit na kase ng batch namin this year. At least man lang makasali ako sa sports para hindi lang daw ako hanggang sports attire. Haha.

At syempre may exam kami sa Monday. Endoc. At kalahati sa amin e kulang pa ng tulog dahil duty kagabi. Hay. Ang saya ng medisina!

exposure sa NICU

Two weeks ago (kase every other week lang kami may duty), na-assign kami sa NICU. That's the neonatal intensive care unit. Dito dumadating ang lahat ng sick babies na bagong panganak at lahat ng premature babies. Nasubukan kong magpakain sa baby gamit ang syringe. Kakaiba. Kakatakot. Na-experience ko rin, for the first time, ang magkarga ng premature baby at ipa-burp sya. Gudlak. Mukhang naumpog siya sa balikat ko. Pero ok pa rin naman sya.

I'm not fond of children. I'm not fond of babies. And I don't like sick babies. I'm scared of babies. Ok lang ung mga well babies e, kase cute and mataba and all. Pero pag sick, mas nakakatakot sila hawakan. Parang anytime sila malalagutan ng hininga. Masyado kase silang fragile, sa tingin ko. They're so tiny and helpless and... well, dependent. And eto ako, ang laki-laki, tapos engot pagdating sa paghahawak ng bata. Nakakatakot. Tapos iyak din sila ng iyak. Nakakarindi. At nakaka-awa din naman sila.

Na-stress ako dun sa NICU. Yung iba kong classmates enjoy na enjoy. Ako naman, stressed na stressed. Sabi ko pa naman dati gusto kong maging neonatologist tutal genetics naman ung major ko nung college... pero hindi ko pala carry ang mamalagi kasama ng mga bagong panganak. Mabubuang ako.

Kudos ulit sa mga kaibigan ko na may mga anak na. Hanga tlga ko sa inyo, how you could take care of another person at this age. I can't even take care of myself.. Amazing kayo. Mga nanay, saludo ako sa inyo.

surgery

Last Friday we had duty at the Surgery Department. I was able to scrub in for the first time. Yahoo! =) I'll never have that first scrub again. And I held the amputated toe of the poor guy who had diabetes. Other than that, I did nothing. I was just given the opportunity to experience it by the doctor who performed the surgery. After that, we observed an ExLap. The doctors were considering a ruptured appendix kase, pero it turned out na suppurative pa lng sya. Nahirapan sila ibalik ulit ung mga lamang loob nung bata kase hindi magkasya sa loob! Gising kase ng gising ung pasyente e! imagine waking up in the middle of surgery and your guts are all over the place! Sino bang hindi magrereklamo sa lagay. Our last procedure to observe was a simple appendectomy which turned out to be not so simple pala.... retrograde kase ung appendix nung mama. haha! Kaka-awa naman ung surgeon namin... he thought he could get out the specimen in 20 minutes but it turned out to be more than an hour. Wahaha.

We were also able to see a person who's anus was stitched shut na lng kase he had rectal adenocarcinoma. Poor guy. He'll forever pass gas and feces from his side. Wow moment yun para sa amin nung classmate ko who saw it. Yung isa naman may colostomy and ileostomy sa may tiyan kase nagka-intussusception. Akala nila ruptured appendix lang but no, mas malala pa pla.

Ang cool sa surgery. =)

cats

We've three cats in the house now. Rain is the eldest. He's black and white. He was taken in from the rain by my housemate, hence his name. Kuchee is next and she's all white. Her one eye is blue, the other is green. She's Nang Bjo's cat and she's so uncute and fights with the other cats all day. She loves people though. Schwartz (named after our Surgery book) is black and dirty brown. She's the smallest and cutest of the three. She was taken from the garbage dump by my housemate. Yung isang kitten na nakuha din sa basurahan, nandun sa classmate namin, ang name nya naman Brashear. Cute din yun. Minsan bumibisita yun dito sa house and naglalaro sila ni Schwartz at ni Rain. Ang cute cute nila Schwartz at Brashear! Super cute.

I love watching them play around the house. Si Schwartz, feeling nya malaki na syang puso but she's still a kitten. She would swagger up to rain, hiss and spit a little, tapos itong si Rain naman, dead-ma. And then he'd suddenly pounce on Schwartz tapos konting bugbugan, tapos iiyak na si Schwartz. It's just so funny kase sya naman tong naghahanap ng away kanina tapos sya rin pala ung unang iiyak. Hehe. Pambihirang pusa. Haha! I also enjoy watching them drink their milk or play tag. And favorite spot ni Schwartz sa bahay ay yung stand ng electric fan. He loves going in and out dun sa mga parang holes sa stand. Feeling nya siguro obstacle course yun. Tapos he'd run up the guitar case and scratch the cover tapos takbo nanaman sa baba at punta dun sa may whiteboard. Si Rain favorite nyang tulugan ung mga beds namin, kaya naman lagi syang napapagalitan. Si Kuchee hindi ko tlga type so di ko alam kung ano ginagawa nya.

Hay, buti na lng may mga cats dito sa bahay. At least may stress buster ako. Miming cute!
